One of the largest bamboo species in the world, this plant (Dendrocalamus giganteus) reaches heights of up to 90 feet and can be used for construction timber, furniture making and crafts. Culms reach a thickness of 10 inches. Culm sheaths can even be used for hats! New shoots are edible and provide a hefty meal. This jaw-dropping specimen is truly stunning due to its enormous size and blueish-green culms covered in a fine white waxy sheen when immature. Its stature would make it a suitable replacement for a monkeypod or similar specimen tree in the landscape.

Please note plants cannot be delivered off-island at this time. Plants are available for free pickup in Waialua on the North Shore of Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi.
